Patch #331 Finding a way
Original Post
The air is finally cooler so we're doing some much-needed maintenance along the east trail, which was washed out by a six-inch deluge in September.
We started by filling around the exposed rocks with some yard waste ...
covered that with decomposed cactus ...
from the compost rows created back when I was working on the Hearts for Charleston project with Dee Mallon ...
then topped the compost off with rock ...
scraped up from the flood plain ...
All of which should make for a more stable path once it's all done ...
But just in case, we're adding a bit of insurance in the form of five baffles ...
each one an old fence picket set between some ugly pavers that we took out of the garden right after we moved in seven-plus years ago. They'll be easy enough to step over, and likewise easy to move out of the way when Don needs to mow the back trails.
Not coincidentally, it's been a great way to work off the Thanksgiving turkey!
