- Yet another remembrance

Retrospective (5/1/2016)

Patch #110 was originally stitched on black linen, but it just didn't do justice to my memory of my mother in law. So this then ...

Original Post

Don's mother Betty departed this life six years ago on April 19, 2010 ... although in truth, Alzheimer's stole her away from us long before that. She was the ultimate practitioner of unconditional love and much of what I choose to do and to be as a grandparent I owe to her good example.

So today has been melancholy ... we are happy to be home, but feeling unsettled. Grief tends to wane over time, but this anniversary has been harder as Don is also preparing a eulogy for our friend Liz, who passed away last month.

The bags from our trip to St Louis have been unpacked, but will soon be full again as we head to Virginia on Friday. I long to stitch, to lose myself in the simple complexity of it. Perhaps tomorrow.
