This morning’s online reading brought news of yet another fatality due to ICE in Minnesota. I’ve written to my senators and representative, for all the good that will do in Texas. Thank goodness I read this poem by Karen Salmansohn which was posted by a local friend …
Except even this brings to mind the sweet child in the bunny hat abducted by ICE. And how sad is it that you all know what I mean?
Still, I did receive some treasures in the mail from Fiona. The postcard that inspired my first patch arrived in real life …
To which I’ve circled back and added a patch to match the project title Remember 2026 …
Three books arrived in a separate package from Fiona, about which I’ll write more in a separate post as they deserve extra attention …
Meantime, let us pray for the good people of Minnesota. And may you all be safe and warm at home during the storm, wherever you may be.

Way back when America began to change due to the regime, I felt that the best way to deal with the regime, besides protesting and doing what we could to help others, was to carry on, go about our daily lives, our special times...it has gotten so much harder to do this but doing this, for me, is essential and drawing strength and love from family, friends and community is how we stand and face and keep going...
ReplyDeleteRe storm: some reports said that the storm would start here in New Mexico. Higher elevations do indeed have snow but where I live, (central New Mexico), so far, no snow but we have rain, off and on, and milder temps than expected, at least for now. May all be safe.
I remember back in 2001 when my brother, who was in the FDNY, said to give in to despair was to let the terrorists win. Those words are still true, but tragically, it is our very own government that now wages war against us. Whatever else we do, we must not let the immorality of MAGA deter us from our own truths and joys.

I have to stitch positivity … and I’m thinking now of Dee’s current post where she commented that she has removed Trump’s words from a piece of her work … likewise, I’ve never understood how the Tiny Pricks project could waste such good work in such awful verbiage.

DeleteI needed this reminder that life holds both...the incredible heartbreak and the moments of incredible joy. The temperatures have dropped significantly in Michigan helping me to appreciate even more the strong people of Minnesota who refuse to give up. It also reminded me of the need in my own community, so many have turned their little neighborhood library boxes into food pantries. Buying supplies that won't freeze to help fill one, helps me feel like I'm doing something, even if small, to make a difference and that helps too.
ReplyDeleteBeth (I’m guessing that’s who this is) - I am happy to report that our church is building a little pantry … helping to keep it stocked will be one more way to fight against the madness of our times … and we are looking forward to voting in the primary next month, after watching local Democratic candidates debate, we are encouraged by the qualities they exhibited and dare to hope the best of them will succeed in the general election
