- If I had a hammer

It's a G day, so orange is in order ...

Patch #64 (completed 3/14)

Not quite done, but almost.

The inspiration came from a wall built around Meg and Paul's HVAC unit ... the happy result of some leftover stone at the building site next door and the offer to put it to good use by the builder.

It was amazing to watch the stonemason creating ...

with nothing more than a tape measure, a level, a trowel, and a hammer ...

his only protection a canvas cover on one thigh, no gloves ...

G was inspired to get out his tools as we watched ...

a morning's work well done ...

and a pattern worth remembering ...

  1. Since I started quilting some years ago, I find more and more designs in the least expected places. That is what came to mind with the brick wall described above. Love it! Blessings!

    1. Thank you and yes ... having eyes to see the possibilities is what has become my MO this year

  2. The variations of rectangles play well in the wall and the patch. Like Susan says, design...and beauty... is everywhere.

    1. So true ... I loved watching the stonemason step back from his work, eye the wall, pick up stone and consider it. There was no "plan" ... just a stack of rocks with unit heights of 1, 1.5 or 2. Reminded me of nothing so much as Jude's quilt patch math!
