Don decorates ... it's his gift. So while I sat fussing over a retro patch for November 20 (settling for the third iteration, unwilling to try again)
he brought out decorations ...
nestled trimmed pine branches onto every horizontal surface ...
and tucked in red berries of what I call Texas holly (aka Yaupon) ...
making everything merrier and bright ...
The tree is in the house, but we'll wait for G's sleepover this weekend to decorate it. So, more later ...
Oh, my goodness, what a sweet tree, I thought Charlie Brown at first glimpse! (Both boys were Charlie Brown for Halloween around age two).
ReplyDeleteIt's an iconic image, in my mind. I'm tickled that you recognized it!
ReplyDeletebeautiful decorating, stitching & love those red berries but what are those fabulous feathers?
ReplyDeleteThose are Rio Grande turkey feathers. The turkeys began roosting in our trees once we cleared a lot of brush (it's amazing to watch them fly up at dusk and back down after sunrise). In late summer, they shed feathers which I've been picking up and saving by the dozens.
ReplyDeleteSweetness in the Charlie Brown tree! When we unearth our's, a pic will be posted (the little Charlie tree, that is) on the blog. This year, we opted to use our 4 foot faux tree on a table. Frigid temps here and respiratory maladies do not lend to going out for a real tree nor having indoors. Thank you for sharing your trimmings. Blessings.
ReplyDeleteThank you and sending blessings back ... will look forward to seeing your holiday home
