Annnd I’m back

I took a break from stitching because of a sore thumb (if you know, you know). But I did get a chance to make a little handout to go with the peace pins, seen here front and back …

Happily, I started stitching again today … a tiny 3/4" piece of peace (palanca, for those of you who are familiar with Cursillo) …

Then there’s this bit of silliness for you to enjoy: the Buda, Texas answer to Ground Hog Day (because dachshunds are the unofficial town mascots) …

The good news is Nacho saw his shadow and then picked the snowman toy, supposedly predicting 6 more weeks of winter. The not-so-good news is that central Texas "winter weather" includes week-long stretches of 80+ degree temperatures, so our AC actually kicked in yesterday. (I know, I know … cry me a river).

And yes, you remember rightly, this was our weather two weeks ago …

Gotta love Texas?

  1. Well Nacho sure uplifted my spirits. A bit of joyful "silliness" is just the RX needed as we gather strength and resolve to go forward. Thanks Liz for sharing all that you share, peace pins, life, and now and then, good moments of fun. Marti

    1. I confess that I have substituted silly reels on Instagram for my prior MSNBC addiction ... I'm still well-informed through print media, but very much feel the need for laughter to ease the pain (which reminds me ... how chilling is it that the New York Times has been kicked out of their press office at the Pentagon ... petty yes, as they are still able to attend press briefings, but also a chilling reminder that "they" aren't nearly done taking a wrecking ball to established precedent)

    1. we'll be in the 80s all week here in central Texas ... meanwhile our "government" is hellbent on gunning the accelerator on climate-warming oil extraction while the planet burns, quite literally as you well know

  3. Hi LA - good news that stitching finger is back in action. Buddy the Ground Dog made me smile - and that takes a bit whilst F and I are feeing ill. Keep up the excellent peace promotion work - every stitch and ripple counts. Go well. B

Loved the picture you posted of the fat snowflakes falling in your neck of the woods (or is that your stretch of the bay?)

    2. I probably will, mostly. :) Thanks...it was beautiful, my favorite kind of snow! And well, both work really. One of the beauties of living here.

  7. 41 years ago my boss signed a coworker and me up for a cursillo. It was an amazing experience for me as someone who does not attend church. I still have the palanca letters that were written to me. Loved the video and thank you for your peace pins you are making.
