The dawn of a new day

Beto may not have made it to the Senate this time, but hope springs eternal.

Meantime, the Dems have a majority in the House, there are many diverse new members, and I have an appointment for what turned out to be a moderate-bordering-on-severe ruptured (or was it heriniated?) disc.

I feel good about the future!

  2. Ow ow ow. At least there is a treatment path forward for your back...I hope it will go smoothly.
I was hoping for across the board repudiation for the Republican line, but what we got was better than nothing. We are engaged in a really big fight and like your sign indicates, we must keep working. Still, how could Texas actually reelect Ted Cruz? Jeez.

  6. Best wishes of your treatment Liz - and I hope that your regain movement and comfort soon. The political news is better than I first thought - I am so encouraged by the women. They march. They stand for election. They get elected.

  7. Liz, I hope your back issue can be resolved painlessly.

I'm with you New Hope. I hate that Beto did not win and I hope we have not seen the last of him. Lots of GOP offices were flipped across the nation. WHEW!

  9. LA - it was hard to know from over here just how the change in the House of Reps. would impact. So hoping for you guys that it will curb some of the craziness that has been evident over the last 18 months or so. We live in hope; and also with 25% women in the House of Reps. might also mean a new influence and direction. Go well and be full of hope. B

  10. Barry - if only everyone here paid full attention to what's at stake in Washington. But enough did and there is great potential that can be realized with our new representatives. I do hope the old guard has the sense to let go of the reins ... it's time for a new way.

And to everyone ... thank you for your well wishes. I hope to get better and get back to creating. For now, I am working on healing.

  12. Someone described flipping the house as applying the emergency brake at the edge of a cliff. So relieved! It matters a ton! What Beto did was nothing short of amazing. They say his momentum affected other Texas races. Also the momentum will carry forward.

So sorry to hear about your back. I hope you’re not in too much pain.

  13. Sue - Don's help is what makes my healing possible (and his patience ... I'm a tough patient)

Dee - our new Texas state house rep just wrote an great post thanking her co-running mates, including Beto, for their assistance in helping her win. She is a new mom who identifies as LGBT ... elected in Texas. Yes we can!!!
