Since I'm annoyed with WordPress, I'm going to try to move everything written there back onto Blogger ... albeit slowly since there are five years worth of posts to deal with.
The long-term plan after moving all the posts (of which there are over 500), will be to revert the WordPress site to a free-to-me site which I'll only use for creating posts on my iPhone.
So, we'll see how it goes.
Meantime, here's the original Blogger post back in 2019 ...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After ten years on the Blogger platform, I have moved over to WordPress ...
imgoingtotexas.home.blog
However, the original blog will remain here for as long as Blogger continues to support it. Which means those of you who enjoy the Kindred Spirits links in the right sidebar can still come here to see what's new ... with the added bonus that the new blog, titled I'm Going to Texas (version 2.0), will also float to the top of the sidebar whenever there's a new post. Hope to see you there!
And here's the original WordPress post on the same day.
Starting over
Here I go again ... ten years after moving to the Hill Country and beginning I'm Going to Texas, I'm starting a new blog on WordPress.
Since I'm trying out the mobile app as I write this, here's a picture of some slow stitching in progress ...
Okay, seems pretty good so far.
I'll probably add bells and whistles along the way, but I'm keeping it simple for now.
Thanks for coming along for the ride.

Just FYI: you can fairly easily export your old Blogger posts and import them into your new Wordpress site. I did it when I switched platforms.
ReplyDeleteBeth - Thanks for this ... I may do that in the future, but for now I really like the way new blog posts from the Kindred Spirits show up in the right sidebar. As far as I can see, WordPress doesn't have that feature (yet?)
ReplyDeleteGood point. WordPress is so huge, there's likely to be a plugin for that. (Anyway, I'll be looking at your new blog, not your old one, to read new posts, so I won't see that sidebar anymore, right? Or am I misunderstanding?)
ReplyDelete... looks like the WP plugin Blogroll Posts might work for you.
ReplyDeleteBeth - So yes, I'll be migrating parts of the old blog over to the new blog. Inch by inch, row by row.
ReplyDeleteInch by inch, row, by row, as happens with so much creative endeavor :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the inspiration Liz - we may need to follow suit!
ReplyDeleteFiona - Please let me know if I can provide any insights ... although you and Barry already being on WordPress will certainly make it easier
ReplyDeletei was so relieved, like, RELIEVED to read that your Kindred Spirits
ReplyDeletewould remain...i have loved it for so long and would be so at a
loss without it...have never been able to figure out how to
do something similar at all,
i'm the person who still has an address book in my purse...little
black one....
i come back and forth through any day to check to see if there are
new posts from anyone...
Big Thanks to you for keeping it and tho wordpress is not my favorite
format, i look forward to you making yourself at home there
Love and Love
Grace - you were much on my mind when I made the decision to leave the old blog here (for as long as Blogger exists). I do love the constantly updating Kindred Spirits, although I find my blog disappears from the list when it's in the process of updating. Hmmmm ...
ReplyDeleteSo WordPress and I are slowly getting acquainted ... I share some of your skepticism, but have already found some things that I haven't had on Blogger (inserting videos and editing categories/tags for instance)
Thank you for taking the time to comment!
