This is my annual love letter to our Valentine child, born near midnight on her due date, during a snowstorm (yes, we made it to the hospital in time). Yesterday I made strawberry trifle to celebrate from afar, that being her most favorite cake request over the years. The last time I made it for her in person was nine years ago …
I’m thinking we’ll need to head to St Louis next year to make her another trifle and "40" cookies!
Meantime, Don and I do also celebrate Valentines Day, making each other cards and planning to get Detroit-style pizza delivered for dinner …
after which we'll call Meliss to wish her a happy birthday and finish off what's left of the trifle (because we might have already had some for breakfast).
Happy St Valentine’s to you and Don from us.
ReplyDeleteI have been enjoying your little stitched pins (especially now the peace ones)! Life is quite busy here with highs and lows of family “issues.” So nice to tune into your precious stitches. XOXO
Sue - wishing you and F a Happy (peaceful) Valentines Day
DeleteHi LA - what a lovely memory for Valentines day; and sounds like next year is definitely the celebrating in person - cake, cookie and love. Go well. B
ReplyDeleteB - it’s hard to comprehend how quickly time goes by …
DeleteHad the biggest grin knowing you had strawberry trifle for breakfast! Hope you had a happy day.
ReplyDeleteF - and what a healthy breakfast it was … eggs in the sponge cake, milk in the pudding, fresh fruit (then whispering … and sugar, lots and lots of sugar … and cream)
DeleteI will never forget my goddaughter’s birthday, BUT what I cannot fathom is that she is 39. Just. Not. Possible. ❤️
ReplyDeleteI know, right? How can it be???
DeleteAw, so sweet! ❤️ Happy Valentine's Day to you two. Love the cards. We treated ourselves to a small bag of Lindt Lindor Milk Chocolate melt-in-your-mouth candies. Yum! 💕 Nancy
ReplyDeletePeanut M&Ms and Sweetarts here … which I remember being much tarter 60 years ago
