It’s been a quiet week …
and so far I’m very much liking my new stitching box …
We were happy to learn that Jace and Jackson made the best of the twelve inches of snow that fell in St Louis (that’s sweetened condensed milk and snow) …
while we’ve been enjoying much milder temperatures here in central Texas …
Lastly, for those who follow Jude Hill and read about her nine-patch math vis-a-vis 2025, here’s another way of looking at it …
Okay, so just a few more days until Inauguration Day. I’m still debating whether or not to join the Women’s March given my wonky knees. We’ll see.

LA - what a beautiful colourful stack of peace pins - love them. The grannies always bring moments off joy. Yes the thought inauguration day is scary. Hope the Women's March goes well; but don't put yourself at risk. Go gently. B
ReplyDeleteI’ve concluded that going gently will be best done at home rather than marching
DeleteLots to comment on here, but I can’t believe how big the grandkids are getting! } Dee PS I’d skip the Women’s March.

DeleteHere in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the Women's'March on Jan. 19, 2025 is also being referred to as The People's March. I am not able to attend but will be with all in spirit. I have pinned a talisman for protection and will stitch it on January 19 in solidarity. I have fresh sage that will be stitched to the center of the wee cloth to let it dry on the cloth. Sage for protection. The sage was placed on my Celtic altar, a candle lit, and a blessing bestowed. The wee cloth is made up of tiny strips of dyed cloth from New Mexico windfall and a bit of added steel wool to the background cloth dyed with acorns. Walnut, lichen also used for dyeing and a tiny piece of wool dyed green with offerings from grace's home when she lived in New Mexico and we had our camp-out, years ago. Since CA is on my mind, I have a tiny eucalyptus leaf imprint, the leaf given to me by my grandson when he was five years old for me to use on my cloth work. We had gone to visit Muir Woods in CA. My granddaughter saves green beads for me so a tiny one will also go on this cloth.
ReplyDeleteFor the first time in years, I will NOT be glued to the TV to watch the travesty of this inauguration. Marti
I love the idea of stitching during the marching time … I have no intention of watching the inauguration (and kudos to Michelle Obama for taking a pass at attending) … had to laugh when the NYT headline flashed that it will be held indoors, which is one way to avoid comparisons about crowd size … ha!
DeleteLiz~ Love seeing the 7 stack! And yes, I had to count them. haha The grands look to have so many fun adventures. But, what really caught my imagination is the sewing box. I've always been fascinated by the way they function, neatly folding closed with everything tucked safely inside. There is something special about that. 🙂

the box is an ongoing delight …
DeleteThe square, that's funny. :) I can't wear anything with text to work (dress code) but Monday is an in-service day so I will wear your pin!
ReplyDeleteDeb G. :)
DeleteDeb - I’ll be thinking of you Monday … along with all the Kindred Spirits
DeleteHow did I miss Jackson and Jace's delicious snow treat? Clever and tasy. (Guess I was too consumed with telling of my talisman.) Their snow treat reminded me of when we lived in Leavenworth, WA. I had never lived in snow country so of course, I made snow people, there snow balls, tried to make an igloo and tasted snow. To that end, I decided that by adding Torani raspberry syrup, I could make my own snow cones- yup! and that took me back to when we lived in Maui and an almost daily purchase was shaved ice! The rainbow one was my favorite because of the colors: strawberry, blueberry coconut, lime, mango, banana and passion fruit, etc. Marti
